About Us
NurtureSafe is a family-run business led by husband-and-wife team Joel and Mariya. With backgrounds in frontline emergency care, we deliver practical, high-quality workplace first aid training designed to build real confidence, not just tick the box.
We keep our training hands-on, engaging, and relevant to real-world situations. As a small team, we’re personally involved in every session, making sure each course is tailored, interactive, and genuinely useful for the people in the room.
Joel has over a decade of experience on the frontlines as a paramedic, and knows first-hand how critical early and effective first aid can be. His passion for teaching comes from seeing how much difference the right actions can make in those first few minutes when it really counts.
Joel brings warmth, clarity, and a practical edge to every training session. His focus is on making sure people walk away feeling confident, capable, and ready to step in if something goes wrong.
Outside of work, Joel is a proud dad, devoted husband, and lifelong fan of basketball, the gym, and golf. Whether he’s coaching on the court or in the classroom, he leads with heart, humour, and real-world experience that helps people learn through engaging training that people don’t forget.

Mariya
Mariya is a Director at NurtureSafe with a background in frontline emergency care, bringing eight years of paramedic experience into her approach to first aid training. That experience shapes how she teaches, with a strong understanding of how people respond under pressure and what actually helps in an emergency.
Mariya’s focus is on delivering practical, hands-on training that builds real confidence and capability. She creates a relaxed, supportive learning environment where people feel comfortable asking questions, practising skills, and having a laugh along the way, because people learn better when they’re engaged.
With a calm, approachable teaching style, Mariya is passionate about helping people walk away feeling prepared to respond, not just certified. Her goal is simple: first aid training that feels relevant, memorable, and genuinely useful when it matters.
